Message | "Religion is the foundation of our society. It forms the basis for our school system, and forbidding prayers there is simply ridiculous. And anyone who riducules the religious beliefs of our people in public should bear the consequences." Inigo Araya, Minister of Internal Affairs |
Date | 04:02:13, December 14, 2012 CET | From | Pirate Party | To | Debating the Religion |
Message | People should be permitted to warship as they choose. We don't need teachers indoctrinating our children with religion, and we don't need the state imposing penalties for speech some people find offensive. Free speech and freedom of and from religion! |
Date | 08:51:36, December 14, 2012 CET | From | União Democrática do Tukarali | To | Debating the Religion |
Message | "People are free to worship as they please. We have no state religion, and there is no obligation to belong to a religion. Any religion may set up schools, and parents are free to send their children to a school operated by a religion of their choice, or even a non-religious school, where such a school is available. To generally forbid prayers makes a mockery of parent's rights. It it also the duty of the state to protect any religion against mockery and gratuitious ridicule. The proponents of "free speech" on this matter only want a free ticket to hurt other people's religious feelings with impunity." Inigo Araya, Minister of Internal Affairs |

Message | We are not saying people should mock religions, we are just saying there should be more penalty for doing so. Blasphemy could even mean just swearing. Free speech needs to be absolute. We would be willing to allow teacher led prayer in private religious schools. |
