Message | Nonsense! This proposal would abolish private property altogether, letting the government define when it is appropriate to seize it and thus committing the crime of theft on behalf of an influential group (termed 'the community') at the expense of the individual. This bill is an atrocity and a major leap towards governmental oppression and enslaving the people to the socialist utopia that is trying to crush private autonomy wherever it gets hold onto power. Message | Mr. Speaker, the Hon. Member Margaret Woodhall is over-reacting to this proposal. Most countries in Terra allow the government to conduct compulsory purchases. Such powers are essential in a modern economy where governments need to ensure the construction of railways, roads and so on. George Butterworth MP (Leader of the DSP) |

Message | The VKA supports allowing eminent domain, given the fact that an existing law requires compensation to be provided to individuals who owned a taken property. However, we feel it is necessary that this existing law be amended to only allow the property owners to have a right to appeal the compensation determined by the neutral body. The government should have no right of appeal against the neutral body's determinations. While it would seem fair to allow both parties to appeal, the government is inherently at an unfair advantage given its power and status. Seong Park Virtuous Kyo Alliance |

Message | Mr. Speaker, we share the VKA's concern that the owners of land or property taken under compulsory purchase powers should be given a fair deal, we cannot accept a system without any means for appeal. Mistakes happen in organisations, and appeals are sometimes justified in order to correct them. George Butterworth MP (Leader of the DSP) |
