Message | Mr Speaker, this proposal equals actively encouraging conducting abortions through dishing out free funds for eradicating unborn life to everyone. People will perceive the despicable idea that it is justified to make society pay for the elimination of "unwanted" children whose existence derives from irresponsible behavior on the part of its parents, yet we should always keep in mind that the babies bear no guilt for that. The GNP will staunchly fight against state-sanctioned mass-abortions. Margaret Woodhall MP Member for Ulbrach GNP Parliamentary Leader |
Date | 18:40:26, December 21, 2012 CET | From | Democratic Socialist Party | To | Debating the Abortion Funding Act |
Message | Mr. Speaker, Margaret Woodhall has made many ridiculous statements, but this one surpasses all of the previous one. Dranish law allows women to have abortions during the first trimester of pregnancy, but public funding is only available for abortions performed during medical emergencies. This means, in practice, that if a woman is rich she can have an abortion at any time up to the legal time limit, whereas if she is poor she is unlikely to have access to abortion at all. This is a grossly unfair situation. Poor women should have the same choices over their pregnancies as rich women. Brenda Butterworth MP (Gender Issues spokeswoman for the DSP) |
