Date | 00:51:43, December 26, 2012 CET | From | Democratic Socialist Party | To | Debating the Reform of Defense Act |
Message | Mr. Speaker, my party also commends the PGR for proposing this civilised and progressive reform of our defence policy. We would like to go further still by eliminating Dranland's connections to all weapons of mass destruction programs. George Butterworth MP (Leader of the DSP) |
Date | 01:29:16, December 26, 2012 CET | From | Plaid Genedlaethol Rhyddfrydol | To | Debating the Reform of Defense Act |
Message | Mr. Speaker, We had added a additional proposal to the bill, regulating chemical and biological weapons. This proposal will allow us to research the technology in order to develop counters to these weapons. We understand the DSP wants to go farther, and ban WMD, but we believe having the ability to reply to a nuclear attack is important, which why we stated that weapons will be used only in response to a nuclear strike on our country. Sieffre Sayer President of PGR |
Date | 01:48:12, December 26, 2012 CET | From | Plaid Genedlaethol Rhyddfrydol | To | Debating the Reform of Defense Act |
Message | Mr. Speaker, we have edited the proposal and put a policy similar to the biological and chemical policies after discussing with other party members, we had decided that a different policy might be made in regards to self-defense. Sieffre Sayer President of PGR |
Date | 21:49:29, December 26, 2012 CET | From | Grand National Party | To | Debating the Reform of Defense Act |
Message | Clearly this self-mortification is the wrong message after we have gone through two events that threatened our national security in the last decades, including the Valruzia crisis and the imperialistic aspirations of the now-defeated KSP regime. Even though both times peaceful solutions prevailed, there is simply no guarantee that this will happen a third time. We must stay strong, not hand potential enemies our national assets over on a silver plate. Geoffrey Fox MP Member for Elbian Minister of Defence |
Date | 22:22:39, December 26, 2012 CET | From | Civic Democratic Party | To | Debating the Reform of Defense Act |
Message | Mr. Speaker, Is it not the right of our nation to defend itself in a way that it sees fit? If our military deems it unnecessary to lay land mines and operate the other weapons above mentioned, then it will not do so. Otherwise, politicians should remain out of how our nation is defended - and leave the policy up to our publicly appointed military officials. I yield. Alexander Cordova, MP Member for Ponte Iglesias South Chairman of Encrucijada Demócratica |
Date | 23:44:07, December 26, 2012 CET | From | Grand National Party | To | Debating the Reform of Defense Act |
Message | Mr Speaker, I contact the heads of our armed forces daily for military briefing to make sure their input is taken into account in all military-related decisions, however I must reject the approach of Mr Cordova because the army is a branch of the state and must thus be subjected to political decision-making, everything else would be immensely dangerous. Geoffrey Fox MP Member for Elbian Minister of Defence |
Date | 23:59:52, December 26, 2012 CET | From | Democratic Socialist Party | To | Debating the Reform of Defense Act |
Message | Mr. Speaker, the passing of this bill would represent a great step towards Dranland dealing with the rest of Terra in a more civilised and humane way. George Butterworth MP (Leader of the DSP) |
Date | 00:54:19, December 27, 2012 CET | From | Civic Democratic Party | To | Debating the Reform of Defense Act |
Message | Mr. Speaker, When I stated my support for leaving politics out of our military decision making I didn't intend to imply that our military be left to its own devices. Quite the opposite, I feel that we should allow for the use of land mines (etc.), and let our military decide whether to use it or not. I don't feel it prudent to deprive our military of options when defending our nation because of some politician's "morals". I yield. Alexander Cordova, MP Member for Ponte Iglesias South Chairman of Encrucijada Demócratica |
Date | 01:02:21, December 27, 2012 CET | From | Democratic Socialist Party | To | Debating the Reform of Defense Act |
Message | Mr. Speaker, If our civilian political leaders do not apply morality to the conduct of war, then we cannot reasonably rely on the generals and soldiers beneath them to do so. George Butterworth MP (Leader of the DSP) |
Date | 01:03:02, December 27, 2012 CET | From | Drania Cívica 🏴 시민당 | To | Debating the Reform of Defense Act |
Message | Mr Speaker, We commend the PGR for its move to eliminate biological and chemical weapons, however we unfortunately will not support this bill due to its restrictions on nuclear weaponry. As long as the world is populated by nuclear-armed totalitarian dictatorships, we must have an ability to pursue nuclear development for the sake of discouraging global madmen from using their WMDs against us.
