Message | Unfortunately we believe 10% is too high. We must oppose. |
Date | 20:00:01, December 11, 2005 CET | From | Bodhist Liberal Party | To | Debating the Complement to tax proposal 2153 |
Message | We agree with the Federalists Party on this matter. A reduction in the tax increase would be more favorable. Normally, the Bodhi Party would be opposed to a tax increase on principle, but we recognize the social and economic situation in the Independent Wantuni Republic. More funds are needed to ensure the problems are dealt with in an effective manner. |

Message | So is 5% more appoperiate? |

Message | 5% is permissible, but the Bodhi Party would suggest something lower. Perhaps 3% will suit our current needs? All that is required is for the government to be able to receive enough income to pay for necessary services as the social and economic situation in Wantuni changes. The latest budget appropriates more funds to the areas that need more funding, still leaving a rather large cushion to maintain a surplus in the event of an emergency. A 3% increase will provide approximately $18 trillion more income than we currently have (9 trillion results from 1%, so 9x3 = 27 - 9 that we already have = 18) coming in from the luxury tax. If 3% is shown to be too little to improve services that need to be improved, then we can raise the tax again, or allocate funding to better suit our needs. |
