Bill: Fair Elections Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Social Democratic Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: January 3420
Description[?]:
Right now, citizens of our larger koncilios have less of a voice than citizens of our smaller koncilios. This is because each koncilio has the same number of seats in the General Assembly, regardless of population. This bill will put a fair system, proportional representation, in place. The bill will also keep citizens from being stripped of their right to vote for local offices, and make sure that all mayors are directly elected. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The appointment of mayors.
Old value:: Local governments determine the method of appointment.
Current: Citizens elect their mayor directly in a local election.
Proposed: Citizens elect their mayor directly in a local election.
Article 2
Proposal[?] to change The method used to determine the number of seats each region receives in the national legislature.
Old value:: Equal representation, regardless of region population.
Current: Equal representation, regardless of region population.
Proposed: A proportional algorithm that gives a very small advantage to larger regions.

Message | I think what is important is that it ensures that these measures are in place should a major imbalance occur among the Koncillios' populations in the future. |
