Message | We personally like federal assembly. I've never liked congress as a name. We could take the obvious Germanic routes of Mordusia futher and call it the Reichstag I suppose :p |

Message | I could go for Reichstag. Let's see what the others think. |

Message | I didn't know our roots were Germanic. I would have thought of a more arabic background. |

Message | Meh. Let's just make up a word and use that. |

Message | How about "General Council" or "Great Council." How does "National Convention" sound to everyone? |

Message | I don't like any of those suggestions. I always asumed we had a germanic theme because of the Federal Republic and Federal Chancellor bit. As well as the mentions to the father land in the anthem and the very Germanic flag. |

Message | Random thoughts: "Assembly" is bland and not very interesting, and "Congress" isn't much better. "Reichstag" is too explicitly and obviously German. "Convention" usually refers to a short-term gathering for a specific purpose, like putting together a constitution. "Council" usually refers to a small group of people. BTW the double-headed falcon (eagle) is used in heraldry throughout Europe, not just in Germany. |

Message | It was very popular with the germanic peoples though. It comes up a bit with slavic and other eastern european heraldry as well (such as in Russia) but west of the Rhine and in Scandinavia it's not that common. I still think the people who created the various instititutions of Mordusia intended a Germanic or at least Eastern European theme. how about the "Federal Senate"? I personally don't see assembly as being too bland. It describes the chambers purpose and I don't think theres any reason to change it. |

Message | A "Great Council" or "High Council" would be ok, I guess. |
Date | 00:48:40, December 13, 2005 CET | From | Plinio's United Followers | To | Debating the Assembly Name Change |
Message | High Council sounds more elegant. We would vote for it. |

Message | Ok, we got some great ideas. Let's narrow it down to two: Federal Senate High Council I'm not too favorable to Council for the above reasoning. I like Senate, though. |
Date | 21:55:58, December 13, 2005 CET | From | Country Labor Party | To | Debating the Assembly Name Change |
Message | We have no problem with the idea of changing the name of this organization. But both "Council" and "Senate" sound to us like the names for a small elite group, whether the advisors to a king or the upper chamber of a bi-cameral legislature. We would prefer a name that tries to reflect the fact that we are the representatives of the people, elected directly by them, to serve their interests. |

Message | We like Federal Assembly and don't see any reason to change the name of parliament. |

Random fact: "Treaty-locking", or ratifiying treaties that completely or nearly completely forbid any proposals to change laws, is not allowed. Amongst other possible sanctions, Moderation reserves the discretion to delete treaties and/or subject parties to a seat reset if this is necessary in order to reverse a treaty-lock situation. |
