Bill: Government Responsibility Act of 2154

Details

Submitted by[?]: Bodhist Liberal Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: October 2155

Description[?]:

It is reprehensible that in a modern republic (and thus a variation of a modern democracy) there still remains an archaic institution that favors political ideology over qualification. We strongly urge all other parties of the Independent Wantuni Republic to purge this blight from our government.

MessageWhy should government employees be appointed by political siding? Why should they not be objective in their daily practices? Is it truly fair to hire a member of one party over another, simply because they are of the same ideology? Is it not an insult to practicality to hire a friend over a qualified individual?

Bodhists feel it is an insult to dignity and government to continue this practice. It must be ended to ensure that government works for the general populace, and not for special interests. We exist because the populace allows for it, and we are servants. Government cannot serve the people unless it is effective, and it cannot be effective when the likelihood of a dumb party activist being chosen over a well-qualified party opposer is very real.

MessageDemocracy and partisan politics are very different.

Effective government and ineffective government are also very different.

We support an effective, democratic government. This bill shall go to vote immediately.

MessageWe sympathize with the Bodhi party position, but are forced to vote no. In a perfect world, promising political independence would mean exactly that, but in today's world a promise means little (especially in politics).
