Bill: Use of WMD Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Democratic Socialist Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: October 3425

Description[?]:

We in the DSP would never support a Dranish government using weapons of mass destruction. However, if a Dranish government is ever to use nuclear or biological weapons, let us at least make sure it is not without provocation.

MessageMr Speaker, why should we wait until the enemy has left Dranland in ruins before taking action? We must actively prevent assaults on our people, not wait until they happen!

MessageMadam Speaker, the idea that our security depends upon mass annihiliation is as insane as it is obscene. Is Dranland really the kind of country that would use weapons of mass destruction without a single bullet being fired at it first?

MessageMadam Speaker, Mr Maddocks is blatantly twisting my words for his propaganda. Of course no one would endorse the absurd idea of replying to a single bullet by firing a nuke at the miscreants. However, if an enemy is out for laying Dranland in ruins, we should not wait until he has succeeded before we allow our troops to make use of their full arsenal.

MessageMadam Speaker, we would all be better off if we avoided getting in to the nightmare scenario Mr. Machimura describes in the first place. By pursuing modest and peaceful policies, we will make war and nuclear confrontation less likely. By contrast, following the warmongering, hyper-aggressive policies advocated by Mr. Machimura would make war and nuclear confrontation much more likely.

MessageOOC: If you ask me, article 1 actually doesn't do much. Just nuke them instead of gassing them.

Random fact: The people in your nation don't like inactive parties. When you often abstain from voting for a bill, they will dislike your party and your visibility to the electorate will decrease significantly. Low visibility will means you are likely to lose seats. So keep in mind: voting Yes or No is always better than Abstaining.

Random quote: "Socialism failed because it couldn't tell the economic truth; capitalism may fail because it couldn't tell the ecological truth." Lester Brown, Fortune Brainstorm Conference, 2006
