Bill: Stem Cell Research Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Democratic Socialist Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: April 3430

Description[?]:

Madam Speaker, I respect the reality that many Dranish citizens - including some members of my own party - have grave ethical objections to what we are proposing here with regards to stem cell research. However, it is the position of the DSP that, for the benefit of those suffering from terrible conditions, we need to allow this vital research to go forwards.

Antonio Benandez MP
(Leader of the DSP)

MessageOOC: I think that we have a sort-of consensus that Monmouth would return to Parliament to become Speaker. We tried a contest once, but it took way too long. So now we just appoint with a sort-of consensus. Not the optimum system, but then what can we do?

MessageMr Speaker, we oppose this bill for ethical reasons. Human life should not be devalued to a resource for experimental science, even if some individuals might draw benefits from such research. The point when we deny the sanctity of life is the point when we abandon all morals.

Random fact: Real-life organisations should not be referenced in Particracy, unless they are simple and generic (eg. "National Organisation for Women" is allowed).
