Message | We do not view it as such the HDV believes very much in the power of people, communities and society. When people come together in mutual interest, great things can happen. But Democratic Workers' Councils running businesses is not at all in the mutual interest of all those involved, nor does it result in the optimum outcome for society. In a similar vein, allowing strikes to cripple our economy and to endanger vital public services, especially where the worker himself is not striking for pay and conditions in his own line of work, will not benefit society as a whole. The unions are not the people. Valued though they are as a partner in economic, wellfare and labour policies, we do not believe that we should promote solely their interest at the expense of society's. |

Message | The AF supports this legislation. While we value the benefits that Democratic Workers' Councils ensure for the workers, we do not believe that such organizations should be subsidized by the government. We are also especially opposed to secondary strike action. We value the rights of workers to go on strike for their own pay and working conditions, but we cannot support policy that has the potential to shut down entire sectors of our economy as workers walk out in sympathy. We're a bit on the fence with regard to Article 2, but we will not oppose it in the face of the much needed reforms brought by Articles 1 and 3. -Leon Kluge, Staatssekretar (Junior Minister) for Trade and Industry |

Message | Well, at the very least I'll have something to repeal if/when I get in government. |
