Bill: Abolition of the Upper-Classes Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Democratic Socialist Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: April 3438

Description[?]:

Mr. Speaker, Dranland has been maintaining a rentier class of parasitic capitalists for far too long. It is time to tackle the problem of inherited wealth in this country. Every citizen should be allowed to pass DRA100,000 of their wealth to their chosen beneficiaries, but beyond that, the state should inherit everything. We need to fundamentally redistribute wealth and power in this country, and dealing with hereditary privilege is the only way to achieve this.

MessageMr. Speaker, I assure my Honourable Friend that I am perfectly sane and am in no imminent danger of losing my reason. If we are to consider what it is to be mad, Mr. Speaker, then we ought to be talking about the madness of a socio-economic system which gives such tremendous privileges to the children of the wealthy whilst imposing such tragic and burdensome disadvantages on the children of the poor? All of Dranland's children deserve a fair deal and a stake in society, Mr. Speaker. It is unjust, and it is madness - total madness - to restrict the life chances of the vast majority of our children just in order to give a head start to an incredibly privileged few.

MessageMr Speaker,

I think Mr Benandez ought to seek urgent treatment in a psychiatric institution, as I am seriously concerned about hs mental well being. Why shoukd someone who has worked tirelessly to improve the economic situation of their family be forced to give up their assets to the state. We believe everyone should be able and encouraged through our education system to have high aspirations. We do not believe these people should be punished for their success to keep the working classes in down in the dumps.

MessageMr. Speaker, I am grateful to the Deputy Prime Minister and Dolores Abala for their concern about my health, but I can assure them that I am very well and very fit in both mind and body. Leading a socialist lifestyle and thinking socialist thoughts all the time helps to give me a balanced and healthy perspective on life. What we are proposing in this Bill is very modest and very fair. It is based on a very simple principle: the ability of the rich to exploit the poor must be limited, and every Dranish child should have a fair chance in life. What could be more reasonable than that?

MessageMr Speaker

Is it fair that government inherits your father diary or your great-grandmother's engagement ring etc...What you say about that kind of fairness is insane.
So Mr.Benandez i am sorry about Ms.Abala's poor word of choice but are you sure you are alright,if you want, my sister is one of the greatest psychiatrist in Dranland, i could give her number to you.

MessageMr. Speaker, I am sure Lucas Kyffin's sister is an excellent psychiatrist, but I can assure him I am quite well and not in need of her service. Let me emphasise to Mr. Kyffin, though, that we are only proposing for the government to take over large inheritances (over DRA100,000) and not smaller inheritances. In other words, if your parents just want to leave you their dairy or a family wedding ring, then this law is very unlikely to affect you. On the other hand, if your parents want to leave you a fortune the size of the GDP of some of the nations in Terra, then the government will have something to say about that.

MessageMr Speaker,

the fantasy figures that the Hon. Member Benandez is putting forward once more prove that he is a delusional demagogue whose main political agitation is based on inciting hatred against wealthy Dranians, which he has lately sought to cover up with the utterly absurd notion that the DSP only wished to liberate the rich from the burdens of their wealth and property. Mr Speaker, every shady astrologer and fortuneteller has more substance in what he says than the Oppostion Leader.

MessageMr. Speaker, the Honourable Lady Julia Breckinridge and her colleagues in the loony right are Dranland's true class warriors. It is they that keep our class system alive. It is they who make the gap between rich and poor ever wider. It is they who set people against each other. Under socialism, there will be no more class conflict because we will abolish the class system by creating a radically fairer and more egalitarian society. I bear no hatred for anyone, Mr. Speaker. My passion is for justice alone!

MessageMr. Speaker, I am also very pleased to inform the Honourable Lady that a number of very wealthy people have written me very kind letters thanking me for offering them the opportunity to be liberated from their riches. Money does not make people happy, you know. There are a lot of rich people in Dranland who are begging and pleading with me to bring socialism to our country.

Random fact: It usually takes up to an hour for election results to generate. During this time, the "Next Election" date is put forward a month, which is confusing. Do not worry! In a short time, the election result will generate and the "Next Election" date will then correct itself.
