| Mr. Speaker, Dranland has been maintaining a rentier class of parasitic capitalists for far too long. It is time to tackle the problem of inherited wealth in this country. Every citizen should be allowed to pass DRA100,000 of their wealth to their chosen beneficiaries, but beyond that, the state should inherit everything. We need to fundamentally redistribute wealth and power in this country, and dealing with hereditary privilege is the only way to achieve this. Antonio Benandez MP (Leader of the DSP) |

Let me emphasise to Mr. Kyffin, though, that we are only proposing for the government to take over large inheritances (over DRA100,000) and not smaller inheritances. In other words, if your parents just want to leave you their dairy or a family wedding ring, then this law is very unlikely to affect you. On the other hand, if your parents want to leave you a fortune the size of the GDP of some of the nations in Terra, then the government will have something to say about that.
