MessageWe will not support any bill which seeks to reduce our countryside to an over-mechanised food factory.

The current limits on farm sizes are more than sufficient to allow efficient production - larger sizes are only useful for promoting highly polluting chemical based strip farming. In too many other countries we have seen the results - land is concentrated into a few hands, over-exploited and ruined. We will not stand by and let this happen to Indrala.

The remaining articles would have our support, but as the bill stands will will oppose.

We present the Green Party's farm utopia for the State of Mishari Karula:
"Farming is subsistence-only, and takes place in a few small and arid fields in the local dustbowls. If the rains fail, farmers face starvation."

MessageOOC: As you should know, these descriptions are unreliable. The government policies have no effect on them.

MessageOOC: Which raises a point. Should we ignore the descriptions altogether? We have to make assumptions then - is Indrala more like Taiwan (from the Wiki description? Or more like Bangladesh (from the State descriptions)? The set of policies we would support would be quite different in either case.

MessageUntil the state descriptions are actually affected by our actions, we should ignore them. We would support this if Article 3 were removed, as we feel it is necessary to ensure safe food preparation practices.

MessageOOC: Correct me if I am wrong, but "Food sales" sounds to me more like supermarkets or butchers, not restaurants. Ergo, food preparation is not applicable to Article 3?

MessageWe do not see that food sales licensing adds any value. There are excellent food safety standards in place. Vendors are liable for the consequences of any failure to adhere to these standards. Why should they need to waste time on the red tape of obtaining a licence which bears no relevance to their competence to conduct their business? As things stand, every village bake sale needs to undego a complex rigmarole which adds no value, yet is charged to the taxpayer.

Perhaps the RDP should contemplate another title change, since we now have two articles unrelated to each other or to the ostensible subject of food pricing.

MessageWe will rather keep the old title to avoid more confusion.

We will gladly add the Food Sales unlicensing provision back if there is some guarantee that the Act will get through Parliament.
