Voting deadline: June 3450
Description[?]:
Legislators of Dranland, you who sit in the Moot (that you wrongfully call "parliament"). The current state of our military is revolting. Ordinary decent Werin Da (Good Folk™) cannot accept this. We need adequate protection of our liberties and our grand cultural identity. In other words, the military is in need of Common Sense™. We therefore propose: That paramilitaries shall be legalized. There is no logic in allowing our Good Folk™ to have weapons but forbid them for organizing themselves for the good of the nation. Common Sense™ dictates that a nation is best served by an independent warrior chaste made up of fine idealists that any enemy stands no chance against prevailing against and that isn't corrupted by the malign influence of bureaucrats. We shall therefore also propose the complete privatization of the military sector. Let our good and diligent entrepreneurs compete for serving the nation with the best quality for the lowest price. And there is no need to prevent them form picking the people they want for the sake of "equality", conscription is mandatory in any case. The military should be a place of decency. We propose instating a "don't ask, don't tell policy" to prevent Good Folk™ being bothered by the gayliness of fighting mates. By the same logic, Common Sense™ dictates that women shall serve in segregated units. We don't want any of our boys or girls missing any important tasks because they were doing some "bunga bunga" in the nearest field tent, do we? Lastly, defence is a national interest. Therefore, shelters is a job for the national government, for you people, and not for some local wackos who want to build Ferris wheels or buy flashy cars for the local people's money instead of taking care of "boring" responsibilities like ensuring adequate defence against the enemy for everyone. Let Common Sense™ reign supreme! |

Message | Madam Speaker, this legislation would see the formation of powerful and potentially dangerous private militias and paramilitaries in Dranland. This would be extremely dangerous - possibly even a recipe for civil war. I call on my fellow parliamentarians to vote down this unacceptable Bill. Haneul Han MP General Secretary of the Gukmindang |

Message | Ma'am speaker, this only shows how elected politicians do not trust their good citizens, but treat them like they were kintergarten kids. The rulers should fear the people, not the opposite as it is now when they have a monopoly on violence. The Gukmindang would be free to have militias themselves, wouldn't that appease the honourable gentleman who calls liberty "extremely dangerous"? Tristan Lochlannaigh, Tanist of the Werin Da |

Message | Madam Speaker I see the common sense in here, this bill is full of common sense, if you vote against it. Denying LGBT rights, lifting ban on paramilitaries, segregation in army and continues on. I don't get how could you call yourselves common sense. Maybe opposing you is common sense. Eilomax filtered as Werin da, Gukmindang and VBSM, our country will be slaved and the first step is on our way, private army and paramilitaries. Message | Ma'am speaker, Dare we dream of a golden day when the bestial War shall rule no more? If we do, how should we get there? The only way - the ONLY way - is to make war on dranish citizens an impossibility. And the only way to ensure this is ensuring that our nation is defended by a strong and independent warrior chaste. None of the opponents of common sense have managed to explain they logic in allowing our Good Folk™ to have weapons but forbid them for organizing themselves for the good of the nation. The only reason is that there is no logic. All nonsense about this paving the road for a civil war is just that - nonsense. In fact the only way to ensure that a civil war becomes an impossibility is to give all and everyone the right to organize themselves into paramilitaries, to prevent one group from secretly becoming to powerful. OOC: Thanks! :) |

Message | Madam Speaker, allowing private armies to emerge will undermine the authority of our law enforcement institutions, which exist to protect civil liberties, not to suppress them. However, if we, for example, allow the fascist Blue Shirts, who have proven numerous times to neglect or act outside the law, we will end up with an actual loss in freedom, quite contrary to what this bill is pretending to achieve. Jacqueline Townsend MP Member for Valdor GNP Defense Spokeswoman |
Date | 18:40:41, March 04, 2013 CET | From | Gukmindang | To | Debating the Common sense military reform act |
Message | Madam Speaker, I second the remarks just made my Jacqueline Townsend. Giving the police a monopoly on the legitimate use of force in Dranland is about promoting liberty, not suppressing it. The police are democratically accountable and bound by strict regulations. A Blue Shirt paramilitary group, on the other hand, would not be. Haneul Han MP General Secretary of the Gukmindang |

Message | Madam Speaker I thought saying this would be impossible and thought it won't happen but this new party is much more dangerous to Dranland than VBSM and their paramilitaries will bring only death and misery like their bigoted and hypocritical policies. This has to stop Werin Da are the number one enemy of freedom, peace and prosperity. Euginia Seisyll Interim Leader of GP |
Date | 20:36:18, March 04, 2013 CET | From | Freedom Party | To | Debating the Common sense military reform act |
Message | Ma'am speaker, The statement by a fellow welsh patriot in the GP is absurd. I love democracy, I love human rights, I love liberty. But sometimes a democracy has to defend itself, and I seek to do this in the most effective way. Illegal things, like "fascists" killing people on the streets are illegal and should be handled by courts. No different from any other case of criminal activity. And it's not like they can't do that anyway, it's not like we are regulating illegal paramillitaries in any case. I restate what I said before: there is no logic whatsoever in allowing citizens to own weapons but forbid them for organizing themselves for the good of the nation.
