Bill: Demilitarisation of Lodomun/Likatonia border
Details
Submitted by[?]: Likaton Fascist Front
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: April 2156
Description[?]:
PSS is in receipt of information that Peace has been declared in Lodomun. We, along with all other parties of Likatonia welcome the fact that peace again reigns within the border of our neighbour. We propose the following to take place as soon as practicable: (a) Likatonian troops be recalled to their regular stations, resulting in demilitarisation of our Western border. (b) The border shall return to the former status of being open for trade and the flow of people. (c) Lodamese government is notified of this state of affairs. |

Message | The AAS heartily endorses. Would our Foreign Minister be handling contact with the Lodamese? The First Advocate shall issue a press release, upon completion of the vote. |

Message | (The AAS hopes that all parties get to vote on this matter... it is already 'passing', as it were, but the AAS would like to present a press release that expresses something close to 'unanimity'). |

Message | We aren't in a position to take a stand as we are still studying the issue. Please tell us why we should vote yes? |

Message | I'll vote yes but of course we always had troops on the borders....... |

Message | To RWLP: Point taken, I probably could have spelled it out a little better. I still beleive it is sufficiently made clear in "The border shall return to the former status of being open for trade and the flow of people.", however you are correct. PSS in future will try to allow for more time for comment on such resolutions, although I am sure we all want to see the troops home ASAP. To the People's party: In summary, there was an invasion of our neighbour Lodomun by Deltaria. Fighting was uncomfortably close to our border, so we closed it so none of the fighting would spill over into our territory. Perhaps the best summary of events in our neighbour can be found here: http://www.takeforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3942&mforum=particracy |

Message | Response to the People's Party: During the Lodamun Crisis (see the PSS response, just above), just over the border, general Senate debate eventually led to a 'resolution' to temporarily 'militarise' our Lodamese border: http://82.238.75.178:8085/particracy/main/viewbill.php?billid=33758. This Resolution led to an official statement (in the World News), in March of 2148 - which is probably easier to find in the 2148 'edition' of the Republic of Likatonia Daily: http://82.238.75.178:8085/particracy/main/viewnews.php?after=1776&before=1788&nation=17 The current PSS Resolution is the instrument of returning the Likatonian/Lodamese border to the 'ante bellum' state... an action which was implicit in the original plan, and which is generally being accepted as a positive gesture, by the Likatonian Senate. |

Message | The AAS extends deepest gratitutude to the People's Party, and all the other voting representatives, for this unanimous vote. Once this measure passes, the AAS will (if the other parties all concur) issue a formal statement, detailing our renunciation of the North- East Border Militarised Zone. |

Random fact: In cases where a party has no seat, the default presumption should be that the party is able to contribute to debates in the legislature due to one of its members winning a seat at a by-election. However, players may collectively improvise arrangements of their own to provide a satisfying explanation for how parties with no seats in the legislature can speak and vote there. |
