MessageMr Speaker,

We struggle to see how it is 'common sense' to drastically increase income tax for lower income earners (15,000) and how flat tax is supposed to enhance the cause of social justice.

MessageMadam Speaker, we would prefer an income tax system which was a little softer on the low-paid whilst asking the wealthier section of society to contribute just a little more.

MessageMadam Speaker,

flat taxes are generally a good idea since they require anyone - in proportion to their income - to contribute to the general good, but we would prefer a rate of about 20% since this proposal would cripple consumption and investment alike with its massive across-the-board tax hike.
