Message | Madam Speaker, we are not particularly enthusiastic about article 3. There should be uniform standards across the country in order to guarantee quality and transparency, yet this is a minor objection. Altogether, we believe that opening agribusiness for the free market will greatly benefit productivity and bring down the cost of food through more competition and less distorting subsidies. Message | Madam Speaker, rural communities need protection from the incursions of massive corporations which ride roughshod over their way of life. We are also concerned about the proposal to water down regulations which are vital for maintaining food safety. Haneul Han General Secretary of the Gukmindang |

Message | Madam Speaker, rural communities will be able to protect their way of live in a self-determined way by choosing to buy local products if they really wish to do maintain it. Simply calling for government subsidies to protect something that one would otherwise not actively support is surely a questionable stance.
