Message | Madam Speaker, we also support this Bill. Globalisation has had too much of an impact on our economy and society. The benefits of global trade need to be balanced against the threats to our jobs and our culture. Haneul Han MP (General Secretary of the Gukmindang) |

Message | Madam Speaker, we oppose this bill which will create local corporate privileges and decrease innovation through less competition. Due to the same cause, consumers will be forced to pay more for their daily expenses as they are barred from opting for products from abroad. Message | Madam Speaker, we would rather our people pay more for everyday goods as a small sacrifice for a greater good, the triumph of native industry which in turn will protect jobs. Ban dae Jung LOL Industry Critic |

Message | Madam Speaker, tariffs never protect jobs because they boost prices for all goods, thus decreasing demand on the consumer side and also damaging production in other manufacturing industries due to more expensive goods required for production. Tariffs only protect jobs in certain privileged sectors while inflicting great overall damage. Moreover, if we impose tariffs on foreign goods we must expect other nations to in turn restrict Dranish businesses access to their markets, damaging our export businesses, again destroying even more local jobs. Message | Madam Speaker, tariffs can protect Dranish jobs and wages because they mitigate unfair advantages gained by developing nations with lower mean wages. Tariffs help prevent foreign manufacturers from flooding a country's markets with cheap products that the countries manufacturers can not compete with and still maintain a healthy profit margin to be able to keep a business running and the need for employees. In short, tariffs will protect us from cheap goods made with slave labour e.g Eilomax Kalopia and will stop outsourcing of Dranish jobs to Kalopian slaves. These tariffs will not be universal, they will only target certain critical areas so Mr Coventry's fear mongering about job losses is just that - fear mongering.. Ban dae Jung LOL Industry Critic |

Message | Madam Speaker, clearly it is not honest to imply that the mere cheaper price of a good makes it preferable to the customer. While products from developing countries might come with a lower price, they cannot match the quality of Dranish products, and it should be up to the customer to prioritize with regards to these two factors. When the Hon. Member is talking about "protecting critical areas", he really means protecting sectors where his party's unionized minions want to preserve their privileges against contenders who might challenge their respective company. In any way, regardless of which specific sectors are granted privileges, it will always negatively affect other sectors which need to purchase their products whose price is kept unnaturally high through the tariff regime. Message | Madam Speaker, For the millions of low income families who are forced to a largely hand to mouth existence, buying things based on prices is a reality they are forced to live with. Strangely enough, these are the very people who suffer the most when some Dranish companies leave to relocate to countries which either allow slavery or have low mean wages. These 'unionised minions' are everyday people who joined unions in order to escape exploitation. The right likes to caricature unions in order to turn the public against them. Unions are strong because the workers support them and are not the astroturfers they are presented as by the right. We believe it is OK for us to protect local companies from foreign dumping, Mr Coventry appears to be arguing more for the foreign companies which is a shame really. Mina Mathers LOL Co-Chair |

Message | Madam Speaker, I would like to make the point to the greens that transporting goods from one country to another is not environmentally-friendly. Just think of all the pollution that is generated by transporting things by ship, plane, lorry or train. From an environmental point of view, it is much better for goods to be produced closer to the place where they are consumed. Consider also that if we allow jobs in Dranish industry to be exported abroad, the new production may take place in countries with much laxer pollution controls than ours. Haneul Han MP General Secretary of the Gukmindang |
Date | 05:34:49, March 06, 2013 CET | From | Radical Liberal Party of Dranland | To | Debating the Fair Trade Act |
Message | Madam Speaker We get Gukmindang's view but we think that our economy is also important as our environment because like environment unhealthy economy also devastates and harms this country too. For protecting our workers and to support slaves of Kalopia and other pro-slavery ruled countries, we should support an embargo against those countries. Gretchen Foulier MP and Eirwen Dalgaard MP Trade and Foreign Relations Spokesmans respectively |

Message | Madam Speaker, The Greens surely realise that it is unrealistic to impose an embargo on every country which has lower average wages than us. This measure is probably the most reasonable way to support our workers and home grown industry. Mina Mathers LOL Co-Chair |
