Message | While we do not oppose the death penalty on principle, we believe it has too many problems associated with it to really be workable in practice at the current moment. We support a moratorium until greater issues that affect our system of due process, such as using torture and insufficient legal representation) are worked out. |

Message | I am in favour of the death penalty and think it is suitable for many capital crimes in which there is no doubt as to the outcome of the trial and the trial is of an extremity that would warrant death. This would have to be pre-defined of course, but every case should be judged individually. The current law doesn't say all capital crimes. It just leaves the option open |

Random fact: Cabinet ministers who disagree seriously with the head of government would usually be expected to resign. Parties within the cabinet may attempt to manoeuvre to replace the head of government though, for example by proposing a new cabinet bill or voting for an early election. |
