Message | Die sehr ehrenwerte Carine Schalle (HDV, Hulsterreich): Herr Praesident, After the last election, there can be no doubt about it: there has been a backlash against the kind of progressive secularism that existed when the HDV was still the most conservative party. It gives me mixed feelings to present this bill, party-politically: on the one hand, the victory of conservatism was also a crushing defeat for our party. However, as a Luthoran Hosian, I feel we have to recognise the special role in our history and culture played by the Hosian faith, in its Luthoran denomination especially, and the Kamist faith, and to re-establish the state religions. At the same time, this may never lead to a situation where the freedom of religion is trampled in the name of zealous adherence to a single, or even a double, state faith. This bill does not represent such a situation: it represents a completely voluntary and ceremonial state religion, to emphasise that certain values have guided our society for ages and continue to be important." |

Message | Mr. Speaker, we ought to face the forces of far-right lunacy not by appeasing it but by facing it and defeating it. We will not support this bill. Markus Scherer MR (DZP) |

Message | OOC: Perhaps you could participate in the actual debate, Walrus? Die sehr ehrenwerte Carine Schalle (HDV, Hulsterreich): Herr Praesident, It pains me to hear the gentleman from Labsburg-Bingen describe HDV Party policy, and long-standing policy at that as far-right lunacy. This is not at all what the FVP was petitioning the Diet for: it is the sensible, moderate option of recognising in our laws the historical and cultural significance of certain faiths. Such has been the case for centuries in our country, and it has never ever been oppressive or restrictive on the freedom of religion. The dual state religions are a centripetal force for good in this country, and we will continue to championing them." |

Message | SDAP Leader Gary Ullman: "The separation of church and state is fundamental to a secular society. No religion should be endorsed by the state. We will oppose this bill vehemently." |

Message | "Herr Praesident, We agree from our parliamentary colleagues in the Sozialdemokratische Arberteipartei - no state can be responsible for the religious beliefs of the populace, and as a result we oppose this bill. By all means encourage religious freedom, but do not force an official state religion upon us!" Hans Zender (AGP) - speaking on behalf of Hansjörg Pauli. |

Message | Mr. Speaker, I'm not saying that this is far-right lunacy - far from it. But it sets a dangerous precedent that the government is allowed to interfere in matters of religion. We believe in the separation of church and state. The cultural and historical significance of certain faiths, if it is really considered significant by the people, does not require the state to prop it up. Markus Scherer MR (DZP) OOC: It's Markus Scherer, not Gunther. |

Message | Der ehrenwerte Sprecher für Bildung und Kultur, Jörg Faust MR (AF, Kuratha): "Mr. Speaker, we see no harm in having state religions, provided that they are completely voluntary and ceremonial. Furthermore, it is clear from the recent election results that the people are generally opposed to the overly progressive agenda of the previous governments. Therefore, the AF will reverse its earlier position on this issue and will endorse the reinstating of our official- and we stress voluntary- religions." OOC: Note- Faust is a Wechslerite, to his party's right on both the economic and social spectrums. He is yet another symbol of the AF recent trend to the right. |

Random fact: Particracy does not allow real-life brand names (eg. Coca Cola, McDonalds, Microsoft). However, in the case of military equipment brand names it is permitted to use simple number-letter combinations (eg. T-90 and F-22) borrowed from real life, and also simple generic names, like those of animals (eg. Leopard and Jaguar). |
Random quote: "Perhaps the fact that we have seen millions voting themselves into complete dependence on a tyrant has made our generation understand that to choose one's government is not necessarily to secure freedom." - Friedrich Hayek |
