Message | Madam Speaker, after thorough internal negotiations, the government has chosen to compromise with the opposition's demands to increase defence spending temporarily by raising sales taxes in order to retain our recent reductions in income tax and to avoid damaging productive industry by targeting consumption instead. Message | Madam Speaker, this is not a very adequate measure. Egelion has increased its military spending by 70%, and the funds raised by this proposal will not come even close to allowing us to match that. We would prefer to raise additional funds through income tax, and we are not keen on imposing a tax on essential goods. However, given the circumstances, we will support this proposal as better than nothing. I am also pleased, Madam Speaker, that James Whittaker has finally come around to understanding the need to increase rather than reduce our military spending at this extremely dangerous time. Haneul Han MP General Secretary of the Gukmindang |

Message | Madam Speaker, Egelion has imposed destructive tax rates of over 40 percent on both citizen's income and corporations, which would devastate our economy. If the Hon. Member Han is in favor of soaking the citizens to such an extent, he should tell the general public about his plans and not trying to avoid elaborating on how he intends to fund such excess increases. Message | Madam Speaker, We applaud the Government's decision to compromise with the opposition. We urge all parties to support this reasonable proposal. does this mean that the cabinet will support the Emergency Budget or it will propose one of its own? Rosie Liech LOL Finance Critic |
