Debate
These messages have been posted to debate on this bill:

Message | No, for the following reasons: Article 1 would allow husbands to abandon their wives and families without their consent, which will be very bad for our family values and will overburden our social welfare system. Article 2 would deregulate gun ownership too far. Statistics show that most killers have no history of violent behavior or mental illness: they are first-time murderers. This won't prevent them from getting their hands on guns. Article 3 would allow the printing of outright falsehoods in the media. This is not good. We need to fact-check all news that is published so that people aren't misinformed. Article 4 legalizes polygamy. This is a sexist institution, which is oppressive to the women involved. It is unacceptable. Article 5 is too centralized and too close to a kind of corporatism. We oppose it. Article 6 is problematic because it would allow violent pornography to be aired on television. This is really quite disgusting, and exploitative. No pornographic material for which people were harmed should be aired. Article 7 removes protections to prevent children from seeing material that they are not ready to deal with. They should learn about sex, but this needs to take place through sexual education in school or from their parents, not by watching televised pornography that might disturb them. Thus, we oppose all 7 articles. |
