Message | A government-funded channel has nothing to do with restricting freedom of speech but rather is about ensuring that at least some high quality, intellectual and educational programming is produced. If everything is left up to the free market the quality of programming is likely to diminish. We are also strongly opposed to allowing hardcore pornography on television and think there should be at least some laws against hate speech. |

Message | People are perfectly capable of deciding which television content is good for them. A privatized media market will ensure high quality television due to the competition which will exist between the various television companies. Hardcore porn is okay if it is shown in the late night hours, which would be the case if this bill would pass. We do in spite of everything have another law that forbids nude content to be shown in the day. The hate speech law can be misinterpreted e.g. it could result in a prosecution if a journalist accused Retsforbundet's leader, Bárður Hentze of being an idiot and this would be of course be silly. |

Message | The government subsidises independent non profit making cooperatives. Please note, independent. This is very important. We strongly feel that media should be free from government direct control, but we do think that the KBC (Kazulian Broadcasting Corporation) is very valued by our people as a source of quality programming and unbiased newscasting. |

Message | We need a completely independent media, we won't accomplish this as long as the state subsidises certain television companies. |

Message | I wholeheartedly disagree. Private companies always have their own agenda, at least the KBC is free to broadcast without motives for profit and political feuds. |
