Bill: Executive Presidency Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Dranish Conservative Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: June 3467
Description[?]:
The Dranish political parties have been unable to form a government in recent years, despite the immense political challenges we have faced. What we need now is a sense of political order and direction. A strong, executive Presidency could provide this. It is time to stop the dithering and drift, and get on with governing the country. Message | Mr. Speaker, This legislation will not solve the governmental gridlock. Even if the prime ministry is abolished and presidential power increased, there will still be an inability for parliament to approve a cabinet. I encourage other members of parliament to oppose this opportunistic attempt as increasing presidential power. Sun Gyeong-yun KSDP Parliamentary Leader |

Message | Mr. Speaker, the advantage of this legislation is that it would at least ensure Dranland had a Head of Government (ie. the President) even if a Cabinet could not be formed. That would be better than nothing, surely? President Duvalle |

Message | Mr. Speaker, What use is a head of government if there is no government to run? The only solution to this governmental crisis is either new elections or the rightist parties conceding that they must moderate and bring centrist or leftist parties into coalition. Message | Mr. Speaker, the efforts which have been made to form a coalition so far have failed. If Sun Gyeong-yun thinks he can do any better, then he is very welcome to propose one himself. But in the meantime, Dranland remains without a functioning Head of Government, and this is not good for us. President Rafael Duvalle |
