Message | I like the proposal very much, except the name "Federal Legislative Council". Sounds too generic. What about "Supreme Legislative Senate"? I'd also like a HoG title less generic than "President", perhaps "Director" or "Director General" could do? |

Message | Siggon floated this idea past me as well. It's very interesting and original. What I'm not sure about is the idea of the public directly electing the man or woman who chairs sittings of the legislature. Shouldn't the person who chairs meetings of the legislature be directly appointed by and accountable to the members of the legislature itself? I can't think of any real life political system where the Speaker is elected by a popular vote of all the citizens ;). |

Message | For HoG, what about Presidential Minister, Minister-President, or Minister-General? |

Message | In Sweden, the speaker chose prime minister after being elected by the riksdag. This was formerly the King's job. "Minister-President" sounds to German in my ears, though Presidental Minister could work well. How do you feel about "Grand Minister" yourself? |

Message | What would the Chairman need to be accountable for? He doesn't have any executive power. He's just the chief representative of the people. The people directly elect their local representatives on the local level. The people can directly elect their national representative directly as well... |

Message | Karav: The Chairman would (according to the text in the Bill description) "be the speaker of the legislature". In my view, someone who is chairing the legislature would need to be accountable to the legislature. ie. if he was biased or did an awful job, the legislature would need to be able to remove him. BTW selcrus I really do like "Moot", as I think others here do ;). The only problem is it sounds a bit too Kazulian/Scandinavian. |

Message | OOC: Moot is great and so as Doge and Bailiwick maybe we should implement them first |

Message | The legislature could call elections. With so many parties, a player can't win without endorsement. The Chairman is just someone that the people want to represent them on a national level. The individual members of the council represent individual constituencies. The government would have to be accountable to them. |

Message | OOC: I second Moot. Grand Minister is not bad. How about Barbarian Quelling Generalissmo for HOG?lol. |

Message | I was hoping the HoG would be more Presidential, instead of being viewed as a Prime Minister =/ |

Message | Another option is to make the President the Head of Government as well as the Head of State. |

Message | ^ But then he wouldn't be elected by the Parliament, and he couldn't be excluded from the cabinet. Cabinet formation would be slightly harder, because it would need the support of whoever holds the HoS position. |

Message | I've always liked the presidential system best, but I respect the sheer uniqueness of Siggon's proposal. |

Message | Perhaps we could have a "Chairman" who is not directly elected in a Head of State election. ie. mechanically change Dranland to a monarchy, just call the Head of State "Chairman of the Federal Legislative Council". The Dranland players could then OOC agree the name of the current Chairman amongst themselves. |

Message | Some real-world countries have the HoS elected by a supermajority, and the HoG elected by a simple majority, so it could work. |
