Message | Fellow Parliamentarians, The IETC proposes the final budget before the election in order to further bring down public spending in line with the country's stream-lined government structure created under this government. I shall now discuss the various highlights of the budget. Foreign Affairs saw a large investment by the previous government as part of its socialists agenda to spread revolution abroad and support leftist governments. As a democratically open and capitalist nation, there is no longer any need for such a large amount of money being spent on Foreign Affairs. Previously, Defence was used by the socialist government to ensure the survival of its one party socialist state and the expansion of its ideals abroad. Now that The Company Rifles contribute to the defence of this nation and the country does not face ideologically opposed states in the region, the IETC has deemed that the Ministry is able to make further efficiencies to provide a purely defensive role for this territory. The welcoming of foreign investment, the huge growth in the private sector since privatisation and the reduction in unemployment has drastically reduced the amount required for welfare payments. I therefore, commend this budget to the House. Since the simplification of income tax from 9 separate brackets to just 3 and the following reductions in corporate and value added taxes, the Finance Ministry no longer requires the huge administration and bureaucracy which it previously required. |
