Message | Mr Speaker, instead of pandering to DAL, the DCP should help in fully reversing the act of destroying the existences of thousands of farming families who based their operations mainly on GM crops. Scientific facts do not impress the dogmatic zealots of DAL and their agenda of radically degrowing our economy by destroying modern farming techniques. Hugh Richmond MP Member for Magadonia GNP Agriculture Spokesman |

Message | Mr. Speaker, I appreciate that this legislation does not go as far as Hugh Richmond would like it to. However, I am puzzled by his party's "nay" vote. Isn't permitting research to take place at least a step in the right direction? Wouldn't it put Dranish agriculture in a better position than it is in now? OOC: You're not the GNP any more, Alain ;) |

Message | Mr Speaker, the average farming family does not draw benefits from mere academic research, as valuable as it is. Freedom of research and freedom of operation must both be in place to create actual benefits for everyone from GM scientists over corporations to farmers and consumers. Hugh Richmond MP Member for Magadonia RFR Agriculture Spokesman OOC: Oh right ;-) Keep correcting me, it might take some time to get used to RFR ;-) |

Message | Mr. Speaker, I and my party make no secret of the fact that our eventual objective is to reintroduce GM farming to Dranland. When we do finally achieve that objective, Dranish farmers will be in a better position if our scientists are at the top of their game about GM techniques. Why are the RFR taking such an anti-science position on this? Why do they want to keep the ban on this important reserach? President Rafael Duvalle OOC: Is the name "Rally for the Republic" inspired by the old centre-right French party that used to be called that? |
Date | 20:07:16, April 14, 2013 CET | From | Grand National Party | To | Debating the GM Crops Act |
Message | Mr Speaker, we do not want the ban and have thus introduced our "Slashing Green Tape" bill which will abolish all restrictions on GM crops. It remains to be seen whether the DCP will choose to support it or keep pandering to DAL. Hugh Richmond MP Member for Magadonia RFR Agriculture Spokesman OOC: Yes, indeed, it was the party of Jacques Chirac. Although the RL RFR was far from libertarian. |
Date | 20:11:38, April 14, 2013 CET | From | Dranish Conservative Party | To | Debating the GM Crops Act |
Message | Mr. Speaker, I appeal again to Hugh Richmond to recognise that the particular Article being proposed here, whilst not perfect, is an improvement upon the present situation. The RFR should therefore reconsider its decision to oppose it. Democracy and politics, after all, are all about compromise. Sometimes we can get some of what we want, but not all. President Rafael Duvalle |
Date | 20:19:04, April 14, 2013 CET | From | Radical Liberal Party of Dranland | To | Debating the GM Crops Act |
Message | Mr Speaker GM crops are dangerous to market. Scientists found proofs of GM crops harm the soil and the human body, GM crops only rise the sick number and contaminate soil and increase the costs of production, thank god RFR and PP understand this and voted against it. Nikki Zasz Dong MP Agricultural spokesman of KL OOC: I know Alain and CalF not voted no for the particular reason but a little demagogy won't hurt anybody |
