Message | Mr. Speaker, fireworks are potentially very dangerous, and every year people are killed and injured in firework accidents. Do WD, RFR and any other parties supporting this want to be responsible for all the tragedies involving children which would occur if this law was passed? Maria Bolero MP Minister of Justice |
Date | 13:35:18, May 05, 2013 CET | From | Grand National Party | To | Debating the Fireworks for everyone act |
Message | Mr Speaker, what Mrs Bolero is saying that individual responsibility does not exist, only political one. Does this mean she also thinks that politicians can be blamed for people getting drunk because they didn't ban alcohol? Troy Overton MP Member for Elbian RFR Justice Spokesman |

Message | Mr. Speaker, the DCP believe in a reasonable and proportionate approach to alcohol. This means that the sale of alcohol should be regulated. In other words, it should not be sold to children, should not be sold to people who are obviously already intoxicated and should only be sold at licensed premised. Troy Overton and the RFR are entirely missing the point here, however - as usual. The fact of the matter is that if this legislation is passed, then there will be a massive increased in firework accidents as a direct result. And I warn him and the other supporters of this Bill that a large proportional of those accidents will involve children and young people. Is that what we really want? Message | Mr. Speaker, This is a dangerous bill. Unregulated fireworks will surely result in the deaths and injuries of many, Retsforbundet opposes this foolish bill and would like other parties to oppose it as well so that we can protect our population from harm. Message | Mr. Speaker, To me, it seems like Retsførbundet has a very strange idea of the concepts of "freedom" and "responsibility". They desterst the idea of government intervention when children are bought up by obviously unsuitable parents, but they don't entrust good parents with taking responsibility for their kids playing with fireworks. For me this doesn't feel like the kind of thinking that ensures the foundations of a free society. Ragnar Solfjord, MP Party Tanist of the Werin Deg |
Date | 12:12:47, May 06, 2013 CET | From | Dranish Conservative Party | To | Debating the Fireworks for everyone act |
Message | Mr. Speaker, I invite Ragnar Solfjord to consider how he would feel if he had a 5 year old daughter who walked into a shop, purchased firework, then went back home, set off the firework in her garden and was then scarred and blinded for life in an accident? Would the thought "The law should not have allowed her to be sold that firework" not cross his mind? Maria Bolero MP Minister of Justice |
