Bill: Weapons of Mass Destruction Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Progress Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: September 3483

Description[?]:

Monsieur le président,

This Government has made clear its staunch opposition to the re-legalisation of landmines, given that they are horrific weapons of war capable of doing incredible damage to the lives of civilian communities in our country and abroad.

I thus believe it is hypocritical for the party I lead to continue tolerating the existence of the nation's vast chemical and biological weapons stocks. We propose the immediate destruction of these stocks, and a full moratorium on the research, production, sale or purchase of such weapons.

Avril Reault
Prime Minister

MessageHonorable Speaker,

This bill would effectively make us a target to any and all nations and terrorist countries seeking to cause us harm by letting them use these very same weapons against us. I Agree that changes need to be made when it comes to Article 2 and we would support a change from "for any reason" to something else, bwe we can not agree with Article 1. We ask that the Progress Party work with us on this bill as we have done with them in the past.

On this particular issue, the Cabinet has resolved that there is no room for compromise.
