Bill: Sex Workers (Reform) Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Progress Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: September 3483
Description[?]:
Monsieur le président, For too long in this country, there have been inadequate protections for sex workers, especially young female sex workers. With prostitution being illegal, it is extremely difficult to provide support for those people who fall into the sex trade as a way of making ends meet. Young women are forced to walk dangerous streets, or work in violent underground brothels, often engaging in relations with unscrupulous characters who care not for their health, their dignity or even their lives. We are proposing to end the ban on prostitution as a trade and make it a regulated profession just like any other. I know this sits uneasy with many on the right of my party, but it is in the best interests of the nation. People will always engage in prostitution, and it is pointless to police it aggressively. It is better to take prostitution off our streets and bring it into safe, secure, regulated work spaces. Charline Massé Minister for Justice |

Random fact: When your party holds the foreign affairs department, you can create new treaties. However, before writing anything new, it is a good idea to search for existing treaties which already accomplish what you desire. |
