Bill: Budget proposal of March 3484

Details

Submitted by[?]: Grand National Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill proposes to change the allocation of funds in the budget. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: May 3485

Description[?]:

Mr Speaker,

contrary to recent spending proposals, we are suggesting modest across the board cuts focused on compromise instead of ideologically motivated assaults on single departments. We hope that Parliament will decide to support this moderate proposal.

MessageMr. Speaker,

We do not support cuts in the environment and tourism budget as well in the education budget, the rest of the cuts seem reasonable, but we must however vote no.

MessageMr. Speaker, we are unhappy about the proposed cuts to the police and army. However, we will support this budget as an improvement upon the status quo. The deficit needs to be addressed.

MessageThis deficit was created not by excessive spending, but by excessively low taxes. Therefore, raising taxes should be the right cure, not lowering spending which would only lead us into an ever downward spiral towards a race to the bottom.

MessageMr Speaker,

races to the bottom in terms of taxation are a marvellous thing, and anything that accelerates this downward spiral will be actively encouraged by the RFR. Deficits are never caused by low taxation, because it is always government's fault if they fail to adjust their policies to the money they already have taken from the taxpayer. Knowing the spending addiction of the fiscal leftists, we cannot even trust them to handle more revenue more thriftily than the current amount of tax money.
