Bill: Freedom of Religions in schools Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: National Democratic Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: January 2051
Description[?]:
As originally proposed by the Democratic centre party: The freedom to practice the religion of one's choice, or no religion at all, is one of the most fundamental freedoms in a democratic society. Consequently, the current ban on prayer in schools is an affront to those of all religions. Local schools ought to be able to decide whether prayer is to be allowed at school, and in what circumstances. Nothing in this bill is to be construed as favouring any particular religion over any other, or as applying especially to a particular religion. All citizens have the right to practice the religion of their choice, including no religion at all. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The government's policy with respect to prayer in schools.
Old value:: Teacher-led prayers in schools are forbidden.
Current: Teacher-led prayers in schools are forbidden, except in religious schools.
Proposed: The government leaves this decision up to the schools themselves.

Message | We don't have a ban on prayer in schools. We have a ban on TEACHER-LED prayers in schools. So here's my question to this nation's Christian parties: Would you like to give Muslim teachers the freedom to show your kids how to pray to Allah? No? Then oppose this bill. |
