Bill: [Table] Freedom Coalition: Cabinet Proposal of July 2157
Details
Submitted by[?]: Radical Freedom Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill presents the formation of a cabinet. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. Traditionally, parties in the proposal vote yes, others (the opposition) vote no. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in and all parties in the proposal have voted yes, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.
Voting deadline: April 2158
Description[?]:
Federal President Jan Willem Daatman has campaigned hard for the Presidency, and is very thankful for the support of the Social Democrats, Veritaserum, and the Nationalists. The Radical Freedom Party has always pledged that we prefer an RDSP/Nationalist/RFP/Veritaserum coalition. Had the electorate given us the opportunity we would have formed this coalition. Unfortunately, the electorate has not decided to entrust this alternative coalition with a majority. The Right Coalition, on the other hand, has lost a great number of seats. Instead huge gains have been made by the Grand Republican Party. It is only fitting therefore that they be part of any new Rutanian government. This proposal is an attempt to involve the GRP in the new government which is to endorse liberal, Rutanian values. This does NOT mean abandoning our preferred ties with the Social Democrats, Nationalists, and Veritaserum. It is an attempt to respect the will of the voters. We believe that this coalition can do much to restore Rutanian values. Discussions about positions are, of course, always possible. |

Message | OOC: I am especially pissed that we lost this particular debate in the reset, because it was such an important debate and I thought it was very interesting as well. Anyway, I hope that the parties which were present do remember their own contributions. In brief (and unfortunately less eloquently) the RFP would have liked to go with the alternative coalition of parties that supported the President but this is unfortunately impossible because these parties did not get a majority. The RFP parlimentarians and the Lib Alc agreed that this could be a good coalition for civil liberties. The RDSP announced it would not support this coalition and voiced doubts that the Freedom Party would support it. The President announced that he was not so sure that they would say no. He also thought it important that the GRP be included because of their huge election win. Also: I did these positions from memory, and I seem to recall that LibAlc wanted Trade and Industry. The GRP liked getting justice. |

Message | We would like Food and Agriculture for RP purposes. Appart from that, we\'re happy to support this bill. We\'ve always felt that the common ground we share with the RFP has never really been reflected enough in coalition politics. |

Message | (RFP parliament contribution) The RFP supports this initiative and is willing to grant Food and Agriculture to the Libertarian Alcoholics if they submit a ministry to trade. It would appear that the mayor parties involved in this coalition are in agreement, then, if the Freedom Party is indeed positively inclined. As we see it, the Liberal Imperialist Party has been included in this coalition for the benefit of the Freedom Party, even if they are not needed for a simple majority. They are in our opinion welcome to take their position in government if they so desire. If this is not the case and if the LIP - for whatever reason - does not wish to support this government then the RFP moves that the Defence ministry is instead given over to the Freedom Party as the largest party in this coalition. We do not care much either way. |

Message | We will tentatively support this as it does not involve working with the RSDP and it is a mostly compatible arrangement. However this may be reviewed depending upon the cohesion of the cabinet experience over the coming term. |

Message | We thank the Liberal Imperialist Party for supporting and hope they will work in this freedom coalition. We thus hope we can all work together to provide freedoms to Rutanians. We will support this cabinet as it contains the five parties most inclined to free markets. |
