Bill: Alcohol & Food Safety Reform
Details
Submitted by[?]: Grand National Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: September 3501
Description[?]:
Mr Speaker, the current laws on smoking prohibit cultivated smoking in cafes and restaurants apart from shabby drinking holes, which is not only flawed but also a violation of private property rights. We should leave it to the discretion of businesses themselves to determine whether to allow smoking or not. As for article 2, this is mainly a common-sense legislation that won't spark much controversy, as it is obviously absurd to leave crucial safety rules for food sales to local governments as if requirements would differ from region to region. Jeannine LeCoultre MP Member for Valdor Minister of Health and Social Services |

Message | Mr. Speaker, we agree on the need for universal, nation-wide food safety standards. However, we are unable to support the proposal to encourage irresponsible smoking. Smoking affects the health of bystanders, not just the health of those who smoke. Leticia Saldanas MP General Secretary of the Dranish Communist League |
