Message | This won't strengthen our armed forces. Currently we have have a profesisonal armed forces full of people who have willingly signed up to do a job they want to. Conscription would undermine this. Instead the armed forces would become bloated, with an increased proportion of the budget spent on wages and basic training rather than on equipment and specialist training. Adults would be taken out of the work force to do what? Sit on border posts? This is unsound, economically and militarily, would lead to a reduced quality of recruit in favour of quantity and would diminish the defence budget (unless you are simultaneously proposing a defence budget increase). |
