Bill: Expanding Abortion Rights
Details
Submitted by[?]: Phillipsian Party of Dranland
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: November 3524
Description[?]:
Mr. Speaker, we believe that the government has no place telling a woman what she can and cannot do with her own body. Therefore, we support a bill allowing her to abort a pregnancy in all trimesters. We know that late-term abortions are unpopular, but they represent less than 1% of all abortions, and the vast majority of women who get them do so because of an unforeseen complication in the pregnancy. -Caroline Ortega, Leader of the Phillipsian Party |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Policy on the legality of abortions
Old value:: Abortion is allowed during the first trimester.
Current: Abortion is allowed during the first and second trimesters.
Proposed: Abortion is allowed during the entire course of the pregnancy.

Message | Mr. Speaker, We are worried about the broad wording of this bill. While we agree with a woman's right to control her body, we believe that unless the mother's life is in danger, abortion decisions should be made in the first trimester, second at the latest. We fear with this wording, the door for altruistic mid to late term abortions becomes open. Iason Toles Red Freedom Party |
