Bill: Organ Reuse Act, 3523
Details
Submitted by[?]: Red Freedom Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: August 3524
Description[?]:
Mr. Speaker, We live in a world and a country where a large number of people die from lack of organ availability. It is unfortunate that the wait for an organ is so great. We ask for modification to our current system that would create a larger "stock" of organs for our medical system. We propose a new system where the Republic citizens are automatically enrolled in organ donation. Should a citizen wish to withdraw from this enrollment for any reason, that option is always open. Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The government's policy concerning organ donations.
Old value:: Organ donations are legal with personal consent.
Current: Organ donations are legal with personal consent.
Proposed: Unless otherwise stated, consent is assumed.

Message | Mr Speaker, This sort of law would disadvantage those with religious beliefs that prohibit or discourage organ donation. Consent has to explicitly given before such a controversial action is carried out on someone's corpse. Sean Yates BCB Chairman |
