Bill: Fair Wages Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Popular Action Party 인기있는 행동
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: February 3533
Description[?]:
It appears the cause for a fairer minimum wage has won many new hearts and minds in the Dranish Parliament. This proposal will see the implementation of a minimum wage rate from which a low income worker can at least attain a dignified lifestyle. Since the proposal is no different from the ones proposed by at least three different parties this same year (although unfortunately tied to extreme rightwing articles) we expect this bill to sail through Parliament easily. Message | Mr Speaker, this proposal is only politically acceptable and economically justifiable if it comes alongside a series of liberalizations and pro-business policies. Without this framework, business will cease creating new jobs in fear of regulations, restricted market access and unreasonably high wage requirements. Message | Mr Speaker, A higher minimum wage, even alone could boost the spending power of the lower income groups and thus increase employment in the years to come. Increased employment breeds higher tax revenues which would in turn breed lower taxes on small businesses and the average income earners or instead increased public investment and so on. Positive results all round! Jaume Viana MP BCB Finance Critic Member for Magadonia |

Message | Mr Speaker, unfortunately an economy cannot spend itself into prosperity, it needs to produce as well. If the price of labour is ridiculously high above market level, and furthermore high income taxes cripple the accumulation of capital massively and businesses are hindered by regulations over regulations, there will simply be no stuff workers can spend their increased wages on, because no one will feel like starting a company in such a radical anti-business environment. Random fact: Party candidates for head of state elections are not visible to the public. This means that you cannot see who will run and who will not, which adds another strategic element to the elections. |
