Bill: Dranish Relief Act, 3535 Section 1

Details

Submitted by[?]: Red Freedom Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill proposes to change income taxes. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: November 3535

Description[?]:

The Red Freedom Party propose to adjust the government's income tax policy to better address the economic situation of the Republic of Dranland.

Mr. Speaker,

The RFP would like to propose a bill for the tax relief of lower income Dranish citizens. By adding a new tax bracket of just two percent higher than the highest bracket, we can cut the taxes of the bottom three brackets by three, two, and one percent respectively while maintaing the current government surplus of funds.

MessageMr Speaker,

Apart from the fact that income taxes are inherently unjust and bad for the economy, and should be eliminated, this proposal shows the inherent socialism of the RFP: Steal more from the successful and less from the unsuccessful. We should rather be moving in another way, towards a flat tax.

MessageMr Speaker,

we find it admirable to cut taxes for the poor, but we disagree with the means of accomplishing it. All tax relief should come from spending cuts, where we have still a considerable potential to eliminate waste. Furthermore, we must keep in mind that the rich invest and in a time like this, when we suffer from high unemployment, we must welcome and encourage any private investment.
