Bill: Secular State Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Mordusian Worker's Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: August 3539
Description[?]:
The time has come to recognise the fact that many Mordusians do not adhere to their traditional faith and, even more so, that many are irreligious in their beliefs. Though many parties wish to believe otherwise and consistently push to make Mordusia god-fearing, it is an undeniable fact that religion is no longer prominent in the minds of the people. To reflect this, the state must withdraw from its role within religion and create a secular, though not atheist, state instead. |

Message | And no parties are pushing to make Mordusia more 'God-fearing', as you write, rather, we are just defending our cultural (which INCLUDES religious) heritage. |

Message | There is nothing to protect. A culture can remain without religion - though the latter may influence culture, it does not have to be a part of it. For example, the far off country of Norway, a little heard of nation in the region of Scandinavia*, many Christian and irreligious Norwegians practice pagan traditions, though the country is no longer pagan. Just because the religion dies, which I promise you it will not with just this act, doesn't mean the culture will. *Of course you've heard of Norway, I'm just keeping in character |

Message | Thank you for your co-operation. I understood that much of the last attempt was extreme and therefore we loosened a couple of the proposals, I am glad that you know work with not against us. |
