This will provide a forum for the opposition parties to address questions to the Premier Ministre and/or other Ministers of State regarding government policy so that they can hold the government accountable. PMQs is a constitutional convention, and is governed by the following rules:

- The largest party in opposition may ask six questions every year. The second largest may ask three, and all other opposition parties may ask two if one party holds no seat my not ask questions..

- The parties in government may not ask their own questions, although they may ask questions in response to questions from the opposition.

- Questions may be asked to the Premier Ministre or any other Minister.

- All questions asked by the opposition must be responded to in some way.

- If a question is addressed to thePremier Ministre, the Premier Ministre may either answer it personally or may delegate that responsibility to another Minister.

- If a question is addressed to a Minister, that Minister must answer it.

- The opposition member who asked the question will be given an opportunity to respond to the government's answer. However, he will not be allowed to respond with more questions if the quota has already been met.)
