Message | 'Without hesitation, I commend this bill to the House in the strongest possible terms. For too long, many gay people across this great land, both young and old, have been marginalised and demonised by outdated and outlandish bigotry. For too long, we have stood idly by and let young men and women live in the dark, made to feel ashamed of who they are. As a nation, we can no longer allow this to happen. As a party, we shall no longer permit this to happen. This nation cannot be safe, strong and secure if we are not free. We cannot be free if we are not equal'. - Speaker Catherine Collins |
