Old value:: The government introduces means tested loans for higher education tuition, to be paid back by students after earnings reach a certain amount.
Current: The government subsidizes higher education tuition to a certain amount, the rest is covered by the individual students. This includes scholarship programs.
Proposed: The government fully subsidizes tuition.

| Message | It is not only the student who benefits from higher education - we all do. The current system leaves students with a lifetime of debt, disuades poorer candidates from studying and creates an unequal society. Student in thos country dont see higher eduction ad having a value in itself - it is simy a way to a higher paid job. The shadow of student debt means that students are less likely to study humanities, social sciences, philosophy or the arts. Do we realy want a society only of Business Admin graduates? Graduates on high incomes already pay back - through higher income tax. Since everyone in the society benefits, we should share the cost and ensure that those who have the talent can study. |
