Message | Herr Präsident, Why does the honorable gentleman believe that widespread smoking is acceptable - bearing in mind the considerable strain it places on our healthcare systems? |

Message | Herr Präsident, this is not meant to positively encourage people to smoke - in fact, in only grants them the freedom to decide themselves within their legitimate sphere of autonomy. As liberals, we may disapprove of certain vices but see no need for slapping government regulation on certain behavior. Regarding the healthcare system, we support universal coverage but oppose instrumentalizing public health care as an argument for expanding state control over individual behaviour. Message | Herr Präsident, I thank Herr Wintersfeld for his response. Whilst we would agree that the instigation of unnecessary government regulation is not to be desired, I would argue that whilst he claims this bill would not encourage private smoking it does not discourage it either. Furthermore, whilst he disagrees with those who claim demands on the health service should not be taken into account when determining personal liberty it is an unavoidable consequence of weaker laws for alcohol, tobacco and other narcotics. Message | Herr Präsident, The IKP would like to note the fact the HSP is more focused on nannying the population than the slow privatisation of this Nation's Energy Policy. Sascha Meinhof Vorsitzende der provisorischen Revolutionären Komitees |

Message | Herr Präsident, the concerns expressed by Willifrank Ovberloskamp are legitimate, however we believe that once we accept the premise of regulating private behavior to prevent higher costs in the national health service, it becomes hard to draw the line. If we employ government regulation to discourage and restrict smoking for the purpose of protecting the health service, then why not also tax certain types of foods and drinks or impose a special levy on overweight people? We would rather not pass a bill that could subsequently unleash a multitude of similarly unpleasant new regulations. As for the comments of the IKP, posing as opponents to the nanny state here is absolutely hypocritical. Does he really think opposing smoking regulations makes him a proponent of the cause of individual liberty when on the other hand he wants to abolish freedom of conscience by outlawing religion and assault private autonomy by imposing a state-decreed limit on the number of children a family can have? The LVP is the only consequently liberal party in Hulstria. Georg Wintersfeld, MdR LVP-Hulstria Spokesman for Trade and Industry |

Message | Herr Präsident, Perhaps the honorable member from the IKP could actually offer a substantial rebuttal, as opposed to quoting from street protest slogans? A tape recording could suffice for that purpose, to be switched on and off at appropriate intervals, and she could employ her energies in something much more rewarding. Gardening, perhaps, or amateur journalism. On this legislation itself, we have no particular objection. Manfred Aina Ohme Trade and Industry Advocate |

Random fact: It is not allowed to call more than 5 elections in 5 game years in a nation. The default sanction for a player persisting in the early election tactic will be a seat reset. |
