Bill: Ratification of the Embargo on Solentia

Details

Submitted by[?]: United People's Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill proposes for the ratification of a treaty. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor[?]. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 3575

Description[?]:

This bill asks for the ratification of the <a href="viewtreaty.php?treatyid=2589">Embargo on Solentia</a>. If this treaty is ratified, it becomes binding and will define national law.

Why this is important to us:

Solentia is the stronghold of the CfL, an organisation which was the Association of Terran Republics' antagonist. Solentia continues to defame Beluzia itself directly and indirectly. They have been spreading anti-Beluz propaganda for over 200 years.

Evidences we have at hand:
They claim that under the Karavs (former rulers of Beluzia for many decades), Beluzia wanted to invade and conquer Solentia.
Truth in History: The Karavs were not in charge of Beluzia. Beluzia was never a "monarchy" - it was an oligarchy, and the "monarch" was just the chief oligarch. He had no power without the rest of the assembly, and it was always kept that way. Additionally, Beluzia avoided maintaining a standing army. Beluzia only had reserves for defensive purposes, but no troops to invade another country. This was the first lie which they continue to spread, even today. http://forum.particracy.net/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=126&p=67437#p67437
[While we may or may not want to support Karav's ideologies, such baseless allegations continue to be made by them on the present regimes of the country, and we cannot let them impact our global respect and standing anymore.]

This is a series of press releases at the height of the conflict (from over a century ago), just so you know from what position the Liberals were then speaking: http://forum.particracy.net/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=4743
The entire world was against Solentia at the time. The ATR and IML (who were arch-enemies) teamed up to defend the Karavs. The CfL, Solentia's own global organisation, said they didn't know what Solentia was talking about.

Defaming the Karavs means defaming the institutions (built by them) that stand alive in Beluzia today with full support of the republican governance in existence today:
- World Conference Centre
- International Resource Centre (responsible for the good relations between Beluzia and several other important countries)

Even other Solentian parties have turned on them, and a large party in Solentia accused them of propaganda, as we do: http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=395809

MessageOnce we have formal apologies from them for their actions and words that have deeply affected us over centuries, we may consider lifting this embargo, as we do not in any way wish to harm the common people of any country.
But repeated accusations and attacks on us mustn't be let go so easily anymore!

MessagePlease remember that it is the Liberal Party in Solentia that creates prime accusations against us. While they are not in full power now, this treaty would ensure their actions are condemned unequivocally and that we send a strong message against them should they rise to power again.
We continue to have good relations with Solentia even now, and this treaty, as described in the treaty description, would be effective should the Liberal party comes in to power.
Sort of a deterrent for any future wrongdoings by them!

MessageHonorable Members of the Assembly,

I am so happy that you have ratified this bill. The Liberal Party is at the moment a minor party and we wish to keep it that way. Capitalist societies need to stick together and furthermore should countries that were affected by the crazy actions of a few deluded liberals from Metapontum. The Solentian Foreign Ministry approves of this and we hope to maintain our peaceful trade relations.

Ambassador of Solentia to Beluzia

We understand your concerns regarding the Liberal Party in Solentia, and since they seem to have crossed all limits of international relations, especially with Beluzia and our allies, we could not disagree on this treaty. This is in the good of all, and will serve as a deterrent to any future similar actions by the so-called 'Liberals' should they win majority power in Solentia.
Our trade and other relations with you will not be affected in any manner whatsoever as long Solentia is in safe hands. We respect and commit ourselves to a healthy relationship with the government and people of Solentia always.

Regards,
Mr. Samuel Grigori
Deputy Foreign Minister (Majatran Affairs)
Government of Beluzia
