Bill: Constitution changes (DEBATE)

Submitted by[?]: Forum of Independent Lists

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: August 3576
Description[?]:
Open for debate: 1. increase term lenght for 1 or 2 years more (Currently 2 years are not enough to create, debate with all parties and then vote on Bill) 2. I personally think it would be much more interesting if the Cabinet is appointed by the HoS. Than coalitions will be much more important and talks about supporting a particular candidate. |

Message | Agree with 1. But we are wary of giving too muuch power to the Head of State. We believe that the elected representitives of the people should, and can, form the cabinet together to keep the executive in check. |

Message | We think 48 months is fine. we also think that it is worth changing some of the oudate articles to reflect the new constitution - 1(a) - The Chamber of Delegates should be called the Federal Assembly. 1(b) - The Regions should be called States. 1(c) - The head of state should be called the President as a representitive of the people. 2 - lets get rid of any mention of the monarchy. We just dont need it. |

Message | We oppose lengthening the term of office as it lowers the democratic choice of the nation. We support everything else, though we would prefer federal 'parliament' to 'assembly' |

Message | This act is simply arbitrary - What is the point in changing the name of our legislative assembly, other than to give some impression of political might? Similarly, the restrictions upon cabinets and coalitions are uncalled for measures. The head of state may not always represent the legislative will of our nation, which a cabinet must do. If the party or coalition of the head of state is not in majority, this can also create political gridlock with neither side able to form coalition. I see no reasons for any of the provisions within this act, simply reasons against. |

Message | Agree. Sorry but we agree that Article 4 reduces the power of the Federal Assembly. Until it is removed we will have to unfortunately withdraw our support. |

Random fact: "OOC", "IC" and "IG" are commonly-used acronyms in Particracy. "OOC" refers to comments, discussions and actions which are out-of-character, meaning they are done player-to-player rather than party-to-party. "IC" refers to in-character interactions (ie. party-to-party). Similarly, "IG" means in-game, although this term may also simply refer to what happens in the actual game interface, as opposed to on the forum or elsewhere. "RP" just means "role-play". |
