Message | To: His Majesty Queen Fritz & the Honorable and Esteemed Members of the National Forum From: Joaquim MacArthur, Defence Minister & Franklin Logan, Interior Minister The time has come for the great Kingdom of Rildanor to address the plague of criminality the people we are charged with protecting have endured for far too long. Our proposal is to merge the 20 different police departments of the major cities of Rildanor with the military and to attack lawlessness with the might and discipline of an army. As an added benefit, the military will be put to good use and this is a great opportunity to provide training, on a rotating basis, to our more advanced units should they ever find the need to act in a police capacity during time of war. We do expect there to be a slight increase in the budget to cover the transition. If it is decided that the police should be outfitted with military gear, and we firmly believe they should be, then an additional budget increase may be requested. At any rate, there will be a savings to the taxpayer as they will no longer have to support and employ 20 different heirarchies with their local tax monies as the cost will be borne by the national government. We feel that this will increase the number of police on duty and put the criminal element on notice that the people of Rildanor will no longer accept lawlessness as a fact of life. Long live the Rildanorian nation. Long live the Monarchy. Sincerely, Joaquim MacArthur, Defence Minister Franklin Logan, Interior Minister |

Message | So you want to create a military police force, this will be much like a police state. |

Message | Currently the policy states that,"A civilian police force is in place and the military may be called in to help in serious emergencies." We would respectfully submit to the National Forum that the last part concerning 'serious emergencies' would apply at the this time. Crime is out of control. It is described as," Criminality is soaring. Multinational corporations are considering moving to other regions because of it. Shopkeepers are afraid to open their shops and even the police is afraid to enter almost every neighbourhood because they might get assaulted." With the exception of Morbanack, where crime is under control, every other region is in a de facto state of anarchy. We can appreciate the apprehension the National Forum has toward this drastic action. We also understand that the Kingdom of Rildanor will only become a police state IF WE LET IT BECOME a police state. But what of the current circumstances? Are the people of Rildanor free when armed gangs roam the streets with impunity? Do the victims of rape and murder have their dignity affirmed? When a thug executes a shopkeeper, is that shopkeeper reminded of his rights as a citizen of Rildanor? The Zirdor Majority Party WILL NEVER abide the loss of freedom, human dignity, and basic rights of man that a police state would facilitate. And for those same reasons, we cannot abide the denial of those same virtues by ruthless sociopaths. Ladies and gentlemen, the People of Rildanor await your response to their simple pleas for justice, stability, and protection. |

Random fact: "OOC", "IC" and "IG" are commonly-used acronyms in Particracy. "OOC" refers to comments, discussions and actions which are out-of-character, meaning they are done player-to-player rather than party-to-party. "IC" refers to in-character interactions (ie. party-to-party). Similarly, "IG" means in-game, although this term may also simply refer to what happens in the actual game interface, as opposed to on the forum or elsewhere. "RP" just means "role-play". |
