Bill: Prisoner Rehabilitation and Re-Education

Details

Submitted by[?]: Bodhist Liberal Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: September 2161

Description[?]:

Criminals that do not serve life in prison should be made useful and prepared for their re-entry into society. We cannot allow ourselves to be burdened by ex-convicts that will likely revert back to crime after the end of their prison term.

Educating prisoners would provide a good alternative to criminals, whose minds can be changed. Transforming an armed robber into a valuable, hard-working asset in society is feasible and completely worth undertaking.

The BLP strongly urges all parties to pass this bill.

MessageWe are conflicted as prision should be a place that is feared and not a school taht will allow these prisioners to return to old habits.

MessageThese prisoners can be taught something about life that they would not learn in their ghettos and crime mobs. They can change, but we must provide that ability for those that hit the bottom -- prison. It is only in the national interest of the country to make sure that the likelihood of a criminal going back to what he or she did is dramatically reduced.
