Message | Domestic pets are a source of great comfort to many people but particularly the old and the lonely. Other laws prevent the keeping of dangerous or endangered species, and those who would be cruel to an animal can be banned from keeping them by law. All the current proposal does is make it more difficult (and costly) to keep a pet and it is often those with the least capital who most wish to keep a pet. |

Message | So, you're saying that they can't just get a normal pet like a cat and should get a cow, or several? This is not restricting standard pets such as cats, dogs, fish, and such, only requiring the registration of domesticated animals (such as cattle, goats, and other such livestock) |
Date | 23:02:45, December 24, 2005 CET | From | Libertarian Party | To | Debating the Domestic Pet Deregulation Act |
Message | The current law restricts ALL domesticated animals. domesticated animals are cats and dogs. |
Date | 01:45:35, December 25, 2005 CET | From | Peoples Revolutionary Party | To | Debating the Domestic Pet Deregulation Act |
Message | Cows, Sheep, and other life stock is also concidered by law as domesticated animals. I dont not disagree that as far as dogs and cats are concerned the law is a bit redundent...however life stock is different. |
Date | 00:03:03, December 26, 2005 CET | From | Democratic-Republican Party | To | Debating the Domestic Pet Deregulation Act |
Message | Cats and dogs are "domestic animals" not "domesticated animals". There is a key difference. |
