Message | Herr Präsident, even though misconduct cannot be said to be fully impossible on the free marketplace, it would be naive and irrational to believe that it could never occur in a fully state-operated energy system. At least on the free market, competition ensures that no company can commit too many missteps and faults, as the customers will be quick to punish them by switching to a different provider. Sepp Holzinger, MdR LVP-Mitrania Wirtschaftsminister |
Date | 00:41:13, February 10, 2014 CET | From | Solidarität | To | Debating the Energiereform, 3619 |
Message | Herr Präsident, I fear Herr Holzinger misunderstands the nature of the energy market, which is dominated by a few companies that pretend to compete with each other, but in reality can pretty much dictate the terms they want to customers. The energy sector is just too important to abandon to the profiteers. National direction is needed. Max Siegel Chairman of Solidarity |

Random fact: "Treaty-locking", or ratifiying treaties that completely or nearly completely forbid any proposals to change laws, is not allowed. Amongst other possible sanctions, Moderation reserves the discretion to delete treaties and/or subject parties to a seat reset if this is necessary in order to reverse a treaty-lock situation. |
